Amazing handwork of calligraphy artists

Let’s face it. We are all obsessed by technology. We as artists/ designers have lost the passion of creating things by hands. But there are still some people who are so passionate about their hand drawn skills.  Jake Weidmann is one of the youngest Master Penman who has done an amazing work in calligraphy.

Calligraphy is a type of ‘Visual Art’. A contemporary definition of calligraphic practice is “the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious and skillful manner”.

Calligraphy continues to evolve in wedding invitations, font design, typography, religious art, cut stone inscriptions in olden times, memorial documents like certificates. The more we use it the more we like it.

It is uniquely used by some of the artists in creating logos. Hand drawn logos give force, spontaneity and freshness to the concept. The strokes are unique and difficult to imitate and that gives the Brand Unique Identity which is much needed. Calligraphic logos are typically well suited for photographers, personal branding, art galleries, design studios, creative projects and also feminine subjects like beauty parlours etc.

The general process of creating a Calligraphic logo goes like this. Calligraphy is initially done by hand with brush or pen. After some initial refinement the work is scanned and then final touches are added in Photoshop.

Iskra Johnson creates some inspiring Calligraphy for her renowned clients.

I also like Sergey Shapirao’s work as the branding he creates shows youthfulness, action and vigor.

John Stevens work is equally inspiring.
